LOS ANGELES LAMPPOSTS
Once you notice them, you can’t stop noticing them. The city of Los Angeles has a 150-year history with street lamps. From Doric to Brutalist, LA has something like 227,000 lampposts in over 400 styles. They quickly became an obsession and a subject.

Below I have organized them into series as I’ve released them, with notes on each lamppost. Or you can scroll to the bottom for a carousel of all of them. Most of the factual notes on each drawing come courtesy of “Electric Moons”, a recent and excellent book by India Manderlkern, with photos by Tom Bertolotti.
